The drive to Moab was long and exhausting. We got a feel for the lonesome West: Nothing left and right, a straight highway in between, no towns, no service areas, no cell phone coverage, no radio stations.On AM I found some terrible country music channels I had to immediately turn off. Lucky that I found a “classic rock” channel. The landscape was phantastic! We arrived late in Moab and so we skipped to check for space on the campgrounds in the NP. We went to the Colorado River and found a cheap National Forrest campground allong the river, with very basic facilities (vault toilets, no showers). Before sunset we rushed to Arches NP, to join the view of Delicate Arch with the other 200 people.

Next morning we got up early and drove straight to Canyonlands NP and were lucky to get one of the 12 spots at Willow Flat campround (also “basic”)! We were very happy because it is a very nice campground. Later we visited the Park:
